The brief

A little more room to just be a kid.

This family wanted to do something special for their two-year-old son. After a challenging start, much of his early childhood had been focused on milestones and therapy. His parents wanted a space where he could simply play, build confidence at his own pace, and enjoy being a kid.

They also wanted the room to be just as exciting for his eight-year-old cousin. We loved the idea of creating something they could enjoy together now, with plenty of new challenges for their little boy to grow into over the years.

Mom had one must-have: a slide! She also wanted something bright, colorful, and happy. We chose a sunshine-yellow playhouse, a green slide, and a playful mural to tie it all together. The yellow was an especially lovely choice, picking up the warm golden tones of the evening sunlight.

Above all, this was a space to have fun, grow stronger, and celebrate every little win along the way. 💛

Why it's built this way.

Little challenges today. Bigger adventures tomorrow.
We wanted this room to grow with him, so we included challenges for different ages and abilities. Some were things he could explore right away, while others were designed with his older cousin in mind. The idea was that what feels like a big adventure for his cousin today might become his own favorite challenge a few years down the road.
Imagine
A little house of their own
The raised yellow playhouse gives the room its personality. With its arched opening, cozy upper level, and slide, it's a place for imaginative adventures as much as active play.
Design
Bringing the sunshine indoors
Mom wanted a room that felt bright and happy, so we leaned into a vibrant yellow playhouse, paired with green accents and a playful mural. The colors feel especially warm in the evening, when the sunset light fills the space.
